I'm so over the shitty mic quality and mediocre sound of gaming headsets, I'm no professional musician or streamer but I love music too much and sometimes stream for a french gaming website so I do want some more than decent setup.

I'm on the market for new headphones I'm basically changing my PC audio setup from an old Steelseries Siberia 1st gen to a USB mic (already got that and it's an awesome value) combo with audiophile headphones and usb AMP / DAC (almost dead set on the Fiio K3). They're also quite a bit larger than the QC35, which I did not like. I'd recommend getting in touch with Bose support before doing anything rash, and asking about downgrading the firmware if you're not happy with the changes.įor what it's worth, I compared the WH-1000XM3 and QC35-II a while ago, and did not like the limited connectivity options with the XM3. I don't know about cutting out other people talking in the background though I can't test that at the moment. I have a lot of fans for the summer heat, and if anything I'd say it seems better at killing low frequency noise from the largest ones now. If it has, I'm not sure that it was downgraded. It does seem like the ANC may have changed, but it could be placebo. Perhaps you'll find the same thing with yours, or reinstalling it via the website may help. It's actually 4.5.2.xxxx if you view "system information" on that page.

I don't know if the update didn't install properly, or if they've released a newer update which has the same "4.5.2" version number.
Note: you have to enter a d v ↑ ↓ via the keyboard on this page to access advanced mode which allows for firmware selection.Ĭuriously, when I first connected the headphones, it said they were running firmware 4.3.x (I think?) despite updating a week or so ago, and the phone app listing version 4.5.2. I hope this serves as a warning for anyone thinking of shelling $350 on those, do your research and try them before buying. This issue has convinced me to just sell mine and buy the Sony WH-1000XM3, here's hoping Sony don't fuck up their updates as bad as bose, not one to believe on planned obsolescence, but the timing on this is weird, just before they launched the new ANC headphones. I have searched a lot and found a lot of people complaining in their forums but no solution in sight.
I thought it was me, but I swear I could not hear most of what was going around me at work when I had the ANC enabled, now I can hear everything and there is almost no difference between the low and high ANC settings, flying also was a bad experience and that moment when taking off I knew the fucked up with that update, as I could hear the engines a lot more. Then few weeks ago a new update popped up and fucked up the ANC.

For a few months now I've had the QC35 II and for most of that time I've had a great experience with them, working at the office I can code in peace as I barely hear anything, except high pitched voices, when flying they absolutely kill the engine noise, they sound great and are VERY comfortable.
